You are so right, everything you wrote, but especially about Joker being awful.

I am rightly ashamed by the fact I've never even heard of Chicago Med, Presumed Innocent, Disclaimer or American Gigolo: the series. I feel less bad about not knowing which one Cate Blanchett was in because she's in everything.

Did Brendan Fraser win an Oscar for playing a dolphin?

Thanks again for this badly needed summary of where acting is and the looming actor drought.

Everything you say here is correct.

This is the most lucid I’ve seen anyone be about the actor crisis — it’s not about craft anymore, it’s about narrative first, medium second, performance maybe third if there’s still room. The Ke Huy Quan vs. Austin Butler vs. Timothée dynamic perfectly illustrates how we’ve built a reward system that treats earnest effort like a red flag unless it’s trauma-coded. And you’re so right: we’re drowning in content, but star power — actual stick-with-you performance — is vanishing. Thank you for saying it straight. Also Brendan Fraser did, in fact, win for playing a dolphin. I will not be taking questions.
