It’s refreshing to hear you say The Iron Claw fell short, at least compared to autistic Wonka. I think I’m in the minority for A24 films almost always disappointing me, either in their content or art over story approach.
ugh, iron claw was such a disappointment! one of those situations where the way people are talking about it feels completely disproportionate to what the movie actually manages to do. and as a MY-ASS-TRO enthusiast, i do 100% hear you but as a huge fan of bradley cooper's whole insane deal in general i was always doomed to stan!!!
Did we seriously watch three new movies while together over break... that’s so us.
One “part one” you’re missing is REBEL MOON: PART ONE - A CHILD OF FIRE, Zack Snyder’s blatant Star Wars rip-off for Netflix that just came out where Anthony Hopkins voices the C-3PO stand-in. Should not count as an actual movie
A CHILD OF FIRE... i never want to know what that means. i am a little embarrassed that i left it off the list but in my defense i also don't think it should exist, let alone in the same breath as a tom cruise joint
Men bonding without muscles and only friendship in 'The Eight Mountains' was one of my highlights of the year - https://youtu.be/ZypwY-hhI2c
‘Captain Volkonogov Escaped’ is a Russian movie that only got released in 2023. Lovely visuals, very macho, and with a message - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0qakaKE-aM
'Passages' sucked. Giving movies higher ratings just because they're queer is anti-equal rights. However, in the same sentence you mentioned 'The Breaking Ice'. Classy enui drama that will probably only reach the art crowd in the West. Good as a triple-billing with 'Return to Seoul' and 'Next Sohee'.
Beekeeper out for revenge?! Sign me the fuck up.
This list is brilliant. No more Jared Leto, please God.
i found out about this movie the old fashioned way (walking into a movie theater and seeing a giant poster on the wall that said
JASON STATHAM
THE BEEKEEPER
and saying "JASON STATHAM IS THE BEEKEEPER?" out loud) and it instantly became my most anticipated movie of the year. down with leto!!!!!

Oh, and regarding My-ass-tro (Emma Stone’s words not mine), I find BC too comical in that facesuit to take seriously. Thanks god for The Beekeeper!

Wonka and Kylie Jenner spotted getting tacos and shopping for home goods really does have a ring to it!
imagining him wearing the stupid little hat around calabasas... bliss!!!!!
For some reason “Free the homie.” is what took me out.
he literally might still be in prison... free him!!!!!!
“It is the gutter rat Sony’s time to move in.” I subscribed immediately after I stopped cry-laughing
🐀🐀🐀 thank you!!! 🐀🐀🐀
The group chat is already planning our Beekeeper rendezvous. The rest of this list is impeccable, no notes.
IT'S BEEKEEPER SEASON, BABY!!! <3
i take no pleasure in reporting that jacob elordi in priscilla......he got me. ive been turned. im hooked. im along for the ride.
wow our houses are at war... the way that movie solidified what i already knew, which is that i will now and forever be marked safe from elordi fever

For bombs, bullets, stabs and kicks, the best revenge movie last year was 'Sisu' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NnPzpuU5ao

'The Persian Version' was a great comedy - https://youtu.be/PDrlpcv4vXE
PS: I liked 'How to Blow Up a Pipeline'. Give it 7/10. Nice to sometimes watch a movie that never explodes.
Almost forgot David Fincher's 'The Killer'.
